PART-TIME FACILITIES ASSISTANTS Primary Purpose: David C Cook is looking for temporary part-time help to work with our Facilities department during our building remodel. This would be a great position for someone who is a team player that enjoys physical work. Tasks include tearing down and rebuilding office cubicles, moving office furniture, boxes, etc. SENIOR MARKETING MANAGER Primary Purpose: To lead the successful development of comprehensive marketing plans, promotions, and campaigns, and effectively implement and manage those strategies for assigned David C. Cook products. Essential Responsibilities: | Description of Responsibility | 1. | Lead the development of comprehensive marketing plans, promotions, and campaigns for assigned titles in each Span. Develop strategies based on market analysis, competitor data, market trends and marketing intuitiveness. | 2. | Write strategic and comprehensive marketing plans for assigned titles in each Span. Distribute marketing plans to appropriate staff, authors and agents, and explain such plans in a professional, clear and concise manner. Update and maintain assigned marketing plans on the CVP-Shared drive, ensure that up-to-date copies with budgets are maintained in the Central Marketing File, and that the Marketing Job Schedule is routinely updated to reflect the current status of projects. | 3. | Lead, manage and successfully implement all strategies, promotions, and campaigns outlined in approved marketing plans for assigned titles in each Span. | 4. | Identify, drive and manage the development of strategic partnerships with appropriate ministries and organizations, with the intention to expand market awareness and influence of David C. Cook products. | 5. | Participate in the planning, development, and when appropriate, management of marketing related activities at special events, conferences, and/or conventions. | 6. | Perform other job related duties as assigned by supervisor. | 7. | (Managers/Supervisors) PLAN : Implementation and/or support of the Covey Execution process (WIGS, Lead Measures, Scoreboard development/maintenance, and accountability meetings). - To model effective decision-making and leadership qualities to co-workers within the Marketing department as well as to others across department lines, and to outside clients (i.e., authors, agents, ministries, organizations).
- To identify current market trends as well as future projected trends, and develop strategic marketing recommendations from data analysis and marketing intuitiveness.
Working Relationships: Internal: Interacts with the Director of Marketing and Senior Director of Marketing on the development of assigned titles in each Span. Interacts across departments (e.g., Sales, Editorial, Production, etc) to ensure clear and concise communication of comprehensive marketing strategies, plans, promotions, and campaigns. External: Interacts with authors, agents, ministry organizations, strategic growth partners, and/or other external clients. Position Requirements: Formal Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred. Previous Work Experience: 10+ years marketing experience. Technical or Specialized Knowledge: Specific knowledge of marketing strategies and tactics required. Publishing Experience: Three to five years preferred. Certifications: None. Equipment Knowledge: Microsoft office products. Skills/Abilities: The Senior Marketing Manager must possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills; a strong ability to lead, organize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. In addition, this person must possess strong communication skills and the ability to develop and foster good working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external business associates. PRODUCTION DESIGNER (P/T 25 hrs) Primary Purpose: The position requires a unique blending of desktop publishing, graphic design, and prepress production, as well as strong interpersonal skills. Provide services to customers, including but not limited to: page layout, text flowing, scanning, OCR, digital archiving and retrieval, file server management, soft and hard proofing. Must possess a solid knowledge of 4-color printing process and prepress requirements. Essential Responsibilities/Expected Results: | Description of Responsibility | % of Time | 1. | Assist designers/editors in building strong visual layouts. This can include text flowing, scanning, image conversions or repurposing of graphic arts data such as creating 3-D mock-ups of products. Responsible for creating page layouts that are consistent with style sheets while demonstrating creativity in the process. | 55% | 2. | Preparing a Good Digital Asset: Make the data or media into a "Good Digital Asset" to include but not limited to all images in CMYK, correct fonts are used, links are complete, as well as preparing pages for prepress production. | 25% | 3. | Perform job tasks in a timely manner; help to ensure that product is on schedule and meets deadlines. | 5% | 4. | Stay current with publishing and digital asset technologies. This includes staying on the leading edge of repurposing files for the internet. | 5% | 5. | Work closely with the designers and copy editors, as well as Prepress to make recommendations to implement streamlined processes. Provide input regarding technology, particularly in the area of curriculum development and online file development. | 5% | 6. | Perform other duties as assigned. | 5% | Job Challenges: This position requires the individual to be very organized and able to anticipate the internal customer's needs. Needs include delivering product as a "Good Digital Asset" in the right amount of time for the right cost. Must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time with changing deadlines. Requires proactive individual with creative skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail. Working Relationships: Internal: Work regularly with, Designers, Editors, Prepress Specialists, Marketing and Salespeople. External: Outsource Designers Position Requirements: Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in graphic arts/art/publishing/journalism or 4 years publishing experience. Previous Work Experience: 5 years in publishing or graphic arts field. Technical or Specialized Knowledge: Must be able to work in broad range of Graphic Arts applications. Must have working knowledge of graphic arts and publishing service providers. Must be able to articulate technical instructions into visual terms. Knowledge of PDF and postscript files and application plug-ins. Publishing Experience: 5 years in publishing or graphic arts field. Software Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 4 (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and Adobe Acrobat Pro., and Microsoft Word. Experience in Quark XPress preferred. Knowledge of using file transfer application preferred. Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint a plus. Knowledge of font management usage required. Equipment Knowledge: Mac OS X basic file management. Basic knowledge of Windows platform. Familiar with scanning equipment. Skills/Abilities: (List all applicable/needed for this position) - Experience in color management for printing specifications.
