Collaborate with designers from both departments and then proactively solicit feedback from vendors as to process, feasibility, cost, and specs. With logic and an eye for detail, provide complete and thorough implementation and execution of product's manufacture from inception through receipt at warehouse and review of job costs, quality, and service performance upon completion. Offer timely and effective communication to all parties, inside and outside the company. Position Requirements: Formal Education: Bachelors Degree in Business or related field. Previous Work Experience: Minimum five (5) years working the printing / binding manufacturing field. Technical or Specialized Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electronic prepress, press operations (both web and sheet fed) and binding in many formats. Publishing Experience: Working knowledge of printing and publishing industry specifications and processes is required. Certifications: Equipment Knowledge: PC skills, MS Office, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Some MacIntosh knowledge also helpful. (POSTED 11/19/09) Copy Editor/Project Coordinator (Part-time 25-29 hours per week) Primary Purpose: To serve as the primary handoff from the Developmental Editors and serve as a product's champion throughout the rest of the publishing process. This person will own every assigned book and ensure the highest quality product as each book is copyedited, managed through the typesetting and proofing process, and then delivered for printing. Copyediting is defined as both substantive (clarity, organization, and presentation of content) and mechanical (style, grammar/syntax, usage, punctuation and spelling). . Essential Responsibilities: - Copyedit all assigned products on time with high quality.
- Manage the proofing process for each product, including utilizing outside proofers as needed.
- Ensure the interior design of each product is approved by the Designer.

Cook Market Analysis Project Summary: This person will report to the Business Manager. Chosen candidate should have experience with Market Research and will be responsible for gathering, filtering, and reporting on publishing data for David C. Cook. Main responsibilities include creating a project timeline and ensuring that project stays on track. Candidate will be responsible for gathering competitive data from internal reports as well as external reporting entities. Researching publishing trends of the past as well as understanding where the future is headed. This project will report on current David C. Cook position as well as a SWOT analysis of its competitors. Final product will be a Market Analysis Report which will be presented to key stakeholders at David C. Cook. COOK INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Open to students enrolled in college credit internship programs, this Internship Program provides an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of disciplines within David C. Cook. The aim of the program is to reach out to the college population to increase awareness and interest in the publishing industry and its many components. - Students should be in either their Junior or Senior year of college
- Able to receive college credit for the internship (this is an unpaid internship)
- Related experience is preferred (e.g., school newspaper, prior publishing internship, etc.)
- Strong interest in a publishing or internship related career
