  Frequently Asked Questions

What does rotation model mean?
WaterWorks!™ Park VBS is built on a rotation model. What this simply means is that your kids will divide into groups (school age or mixed age groups), and each group will visit—or rotate to—every activity at WaterWorks!™ every day. All the children start together at the opening assembly. Then they divide into five groups and rotate through five activities: Bible drama, Bible memory music, crafts, games, and activity pages. All the groups take a break and visit the Snack Shack together for refreshments halfway through. And, since WaterWorks!™ Park is rotation-based, recruiting volunteers is a snap. Leaders teach to their strengths. If their gift is crafts, all they teach is crafts.  No more trying to be all things to all kids!

How does rotation work?
Transition is easy in WaterWorks!™ Park! To get to the first Attraction from Coconut Island (opening assembly), one of your five groups will be led by the Aqua Patrol to Bible Bay Attraction for the Bible drama. The other four groups will go to four other Attractions at the same time. Use the helps in the Director’s Guide to plan out the order in which the groups will visit the Attractions.

Will my kids really get wet at WaterWorks!™ Park?
Water is a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. If you choose, kids will get misted or gently sprayed. Water balloons are an option at Raging River. If you decorating staff goes all out and adds swimming pools or backyard water slides to your VBS, be aware that they may pose a drowning hazard to children. Any standing body of water should be closely supervised and drained at the end of each VBS day.

What are the daily “Live it(s)!” (personal applications) of WaterWorks!™ Park?
Every day your kids will learn and experience an important Live it! (daily Bible application) that’s reinforced in everything they do. Whether printed on the beach ball included in the VBS kit, chatted about in the lively puppet scripts or brought to life in the Bible dramas and reproducible activity pages, children will learn to “put feet” on what the Bible story for the day teaches. The five Live it(s)! for this year’s VBS are:

Day 1: God’s love finds a way! I can trust in Him. (Exodus 14:5–31)

Day 2: God gives us hope! I can worship Him. (Mark 4:35–41)

Day 3: God is powerful! I can have courage. (1 Kings 18:1–39)

Day 4: God gives us a job to do! I can follow Him. (John 21:1–19)

Day 5: God never leaves me! I can encourage others. (Acts 27:1—28:10)

Our VBS is small; do I need to have a different teacher for each of the Attractions?
If you have fewer than 50 children, form two groups and lead the children to a simple two-group rotation followed by games and snack.  Bible dramas and Bible memory/music go together well as do crafts and reproducible activity pages. Or choose to rotate through the Attractions all at one time in one large group with enough Aqua Patrol teen staffers on board to help out.

Will WaterWorks!™ Park work with large churches?
Absolutely. For 100 kids or more we suggest two, three or four leaders for the game and craft Attractions. One leader can do the actually teaching while the other adults help prepare and sort materials, pass out supplies and then get things ready for the next rotation. Aqua Patrol teen staffers will help children finish their activities in time to rotate. For each additional 25 kids you’ll want to add an additional Attraction leader. You can also choose to set up duplicate Attractions (two stations for crafts, two stations for games, etc.) to keep groups small and relational.

Can I make copies of WaterWorks!™ Park VBS for my church to use?
Permission is granted to the original purchaser to reproduce all the books, either whole or in part, for use with this year’s VBS program. No materials may be reproduced for commercial purpose. WaterWorks!™ Park Music CD, WaterWorks!™ Park CD-ROM, and WaterWorks!™ Park DVD may not be reproduced.

Am I required to use Aqua Patrol teen help?
You aren’t required to request the help of the teens in your congregation. But your kids—and the teens—will miss out. VBS field tests prove the valuable contribution that teens make with children. And children simply love teens. Be sure to hold a teen training (outlined in the WaterWorks!™ Park Director’s Guide) before your VBS begins.

Can I use the program in something other than a 5-day format?
WaterWorks!™ Park is flexible and the perfect outreach program for any setting including children’s church, Bible studies for kids, mid-week programs, backyard Bible clubs and camps. The Director’s Guide also contains a one-day program option as well as an intergenerational option. And don’t forget the WaterWorks!™ Park Adult and Youth Guides available on our website. These options allow for the whole family to be involved.

Does the program provide any resources for children who accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior?
Yes. Both the Director’s Guide and Bible Bay Drama Guide have reproducible resources that can go home with the child that day. These are especially helpful for the salvation lessons of WaterWorks!™ Park on Day 2 and Day 4.

Is there a King James Version available?
Yes. A complete KJV kit is available.
